November 16th, Seadragon football head coach Mr Gribben and Mr Caleb flew with a group of 18 players along with Tsinglan’s kinesiotherapist Mr Ian to the Alpine resort Football camp in Changmai, Thailand. Awaiting them is a competitive 7 games schedule in the upcoming 2 days weekend.

Founded in 1988, the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) is an association of international schools in Singapore with its Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand. It is more than education whom FOBISIA aims to impart, football tournaments are inseparable to it’s British heritage, the attendance of Tsinglan to compete in this tournament marks the first time that a Seadragon team has played internationally in our team history. To Mr Gribben, this tournament not only provides competition opportunity for our seasoned players coming off last season’s foundation, but to carry the reputation and image of the entire school on it’s behalf. The game results are as follow:

TS0:2 ARTY1
TS1:6Regents
TS0:3Shrewsberry
TS1:1ARTY2
TS3:0UCIS
TS0:2Regents
TS0:0SCIE
TS1:0SCIE

We interviewed Bob Guo on his takeaways from this tournament, an experienced midfielder entering his 3rd year.

“The tournament in Thailand was a valuable experience for our team, as it provided us with opportunities to grow and mature both individually and as a cohesive unit. Previously accustomed to playing in 7-a-side matches, transitioning to the 11-a-side format presented some challenges. It is understandable that we faced losses against schools and clubs that regularly practice in the 11-a-side game. “

The Seadragons displayed the Tsinglan school’s core value of perseverance with consistency throughout this tournament, establishing a crucial foundation and example for other varsity teams to compete internationally in the future. To Mr Gribben, tallying 7 games in this tournament is crucial experience for the boys to evolve, better preparing them for upcoming Regional competitions in Guangdong.

Great work on the article, SDSN! The trip we took will forever stay in the memories of all staff and players who were fortunate enough to go on this trip! Let’s hope we can do it again!
